The importance of individual training for football players

Putting in that extra effort to succeed!

What differentiates the top players, the "Golden Boys", the recipients of Ballon d'Or Féminin, the top scorers, the top defenders and the players with the most assists, from the average player?

Well, it's their drive to succeed that leads to hours upon hours of extra effort and individual training!

We've previously debunked the myth that 10,000 hours of practice automatically equals expert status.

Yet, the definition of deliberate practice: continuous full-focused practice over time, with feedback and improvement mechanisms - well that still rings true for improving your skills to the highest level. And a key to increasing the value of deliberate practice is to do more of it

Putting in that extra effort like Ronaldo and Haaland

This is why individual training is so valuable for any player with big ambitions looking to succeed on a professional level!

Just look at the greats that we already know and admire, like Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar Jr. and Erling Braut Haaland - hours upon hours of individual effort be it strength training, meditation, strict diets or just showing up 4 hours early to train on their own before team practice starts (that last one, can you guess who? Ronaldo, of course).

Goals are not the only definitions of greatness!

Did you know that two of the highest goal scorers of all time - Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi - are also two of the highest assist suppliers as well? Messi with 300 assists in his career so far, and Ronaldo with over 200 assists.

Scanning, and perceiving what goes on around you to make informed decisions, combined with confidence in one's abilities can lift the whole team's performance. It's a snowball effect - a perfectly timed pass by a central midfielder can give even the weakest striker an opportunity to score a goal.

Individual football training in VR

The Be Your Best Trainer is an example of sportstech that makes individual training easy. With weekly training goals, specific situations tailored to set positions, you can train anywhere and with no physical load.

Individual training demands a lot of discipline and planning. It can be hard to know what to focus on, how to schedule your day, and how to get the most out of your efforts without feeling that you're missing out.

Like footballer Nathalie Jørgensen found, The Be Your Best Trainer allows your body to rest after physical workouts without the feeling that you might be missing out on valuable training hours.

Why not give it a try and implement it as part of putting in that extra effort?

Become the best!
